Hostel for young high school high school boys

This center offers poor students the possibility
to continue its high studies. In most of the towns it is only possible
to carry out the primary studies and with few exceptions until the
ninth degree.
Hostel for young girls
Director: Sister Pelagi Mates Saison Sompong.
It has the same function as the center for boys.
The girls also have some practical courses such as cooking, sewing
programs, etc that are good them for their immediate future.
NOVICIATE of the congregation LOVERS OF THE
CROSS, of the diocese of Kompong Cham.
Director: Hna. Marie-Xavier Booprasom.
In
March, 2004 the sisters Ang Songvat and Bouang Buntharin, who were
the first two novices, made their first religious vows. They made
their two-year term noviciate, after 2 years as postulants. At the
present time this nascent congregation of the diocese of Kompong Cham
has 6 candidates and a postulant.
Catholic Cultural Center
Director: Hna. Sri Sompon, of the congregation LOVERS
OF THE CROSS. This center located in the central headquarters of the
Prefecture has as a main objective to motivate children and young
people in their school studies. The center has the library services
and orientation in their homework. The center has some educational
games and special programs for vacation periods, as well.
Catholic Cultural Center of Koh Rokar
It has the same objective of the cultural center
of the Central house of the Prefecture but on a smaller scale for
the young people and children of Koh Rokar's village. The director
is Sister Chanchira Hong Li Wong.
School of Catechists

Catechist Mom lectures at the school of Catechesis
of Kompong Cham

This program began in March, 2004 with the main purpose
of training of catechists in the central topics of the Christian faith.
At the present moment 11 Christian leaders of several communities
of the Prefecture of Kompong Cham are attending the school and follow
training in biblical studies, catechesis, methodology of catechesis
and history of the Church. After a first stage of 6 months the leaders
return to their towns to start a second stage in their training, practicing
under supervision what they have just learned.

Catholic Cultural Centre
This center is located nearby the central market
of Neak Luang . The purpose of the center is to propitiate the meeting
of the children and youth with an educational goal.
The Center gives some services to the children and
youth of the area such as:
- Service of a small library for the investigation of school topics
and as a motivation for them to increase their reading skills.
The small library has books in Khmer and English languages.
- Educational games for the children
- Contests of Khmer poetry, songs and painting.
Hostel for high school students
Director: Miss L. Khemara, local leader.
The purpose is to support poor students of both genders in the high
school studies.
Tailoring
Director: Miss L. Khemera, local leader.
Every 6 months the center has a group of 12 girls
who receive tailoring training.

Literacy Centre
Located in the area of the Vietnamese Catholic Community
of Neak Leoung. The main purpose of this literacy center is to impel
the Vietnamese to study the Khmer language. Due to this program the
younger generations of Vietnamese of this community feel very much
at ease speaking the Khmer language. Two Khmer teachers give daily
lesson to a group over 50 students.
