Conclusion and Thanks
The Spirit of the Lord goes ahead of us, opening the
way, inspiring and supporting us. We are called to places that may be
foreign to us, but are not foreign to the Spirit of God. Our proclamation
of the Good News is also a discovery of the Spirit of God alive in the
hearts of people. We proclaim God's Word through our activities, our attitudes,
our services and our love for the poor, whose company he prefers, and
as well as by our words. To proclaim the Good News of Jesus we have to
attend carefully to the problems of his people. In this way his Word will
maintain its force in the actual lives of the sons and daughters of God.
During these past three years so much has taken place
to unite the 7,000 or more Catholic men, women and children of the Battambang
Prefecture with one another and in service of their brothers and sisters.
So many initiatives, so many signs of the Spirit are present each day.
We cannot thank enough everybody who has contributed in some way, whether
as community members or leaders, and also our many friends around the
world.
For partnering and funding our programs, we express our appreciation and
gratitude to the many people who support us. We have received important
contributions towards this from the Holy See, from the Society of Jesus,
from the
Missions Etrangères de Paris, and from the bishops
of Italy and Spain.
The community in Knaeh Romeas is supported by friends in Germany; the
church in Ta Phung is being built with help from Japan and Scotland; Arrupe
Centre was set up thanks to generous help from Spain and Japan. Friends
all around the world, but especially in Spain, have helped us to get through
this first three years.
Know too that for every project we undertake, the Cambodian communities
make their own contributions. Yet the special contribution of our friends
here in Cambodia, especially the disabled, is to help us discover each
day the face of the Crucified yet Risen Jesus. His smiling face carries
the message of peace.
