SIGNIS ASIA MEETING STRESSES PEACE

Directives of SIGNIS ASIA with father Peter Malone, president of SIGNIS WORLD

KUALA LUMPUR (UCAN)- Members of SIGNIS, the World Association for Communications, from 16 Asian countries and territories took part in the organization's Asia Assembly 2004 on the theme "promotion of a Culture of Peace".

SIGNIS ASIA, SIGNIS MALAYSIA and CAHAYASUARA Communications Centre, the communications office of Kuala Lumpur archdiocese, jointly organized the assembly seminar, which featured talks on peacebuilding.

The seminar was held Oct.5-7 in Kuala Lumpur, where the SIGNIS Asia meeting followed Oct. 8-9.

A delegation 7 members from SIGNIS CAMBODIA was present, being this the first time the Church of Cambodia participates in this kind of events. Father Omer Giraldo, director of the Centre for Communications of the Catholic Church in Cambodia expressed his satisfaction for the participation of the young communicators of the Catholic Church of this country in order to acquire more experience and learn from the rich experiences of other local churches of Asia.
