Battambang (C.S.C):Many crowd were paraded on a small track in the Romchek 1 village, Battambang province, reached to the pave road along the Sang Ke River. And from the pave road to the Battambang parish and enter to the lawn. There were a few young people carry the banderole in front of and wrote “The blessed virgin Mary is our benefactor”.
Mgr. Kike Figaredo. The Apostolic Prefect and Fr. Totet, Battambang Parish Priest, stayed among the crowd; there were about 200 smiling, joyful, and faithful Catholics.
The homily, Fr. Totet said that “the blessed virgin Mary is a benefactor of the Battambang parish”, Father continued we do believe she always help and save us in the way of love, she pray to the Lord God Jesus Christ for us and she is our faith model.
Dung Vuthy a young Christian agree with Fr.Totet saying that “I do believe that Mary is the way”. He believe that Mary can take his prayer to Jesus because she is a mother of God so that Jesus will listen to her.
In the Gospel, Mary always presents the Lord to others. Jesus did what His mother asked Him to do in the Jewish’s wedding at Cana such as transform the water into wine. This was His first miracle. And also Mary supported Jesus through out His suffering on the cross. She was also with the apostles until he died.
Mrs. Prach Gna a old catholic told C.S.C that “this year the celebration was more bigger because our faith is growing and develop”. She added that “a week before the Assumption, we have took the Mary to the Christian houses who want to receive the blessed from Virgin Mary and pray in their homes and Sunday morning we bring the virgin Mary to the Church”.
Mr. Men Ra a representative of Chomnoum a small parish about 40 Kilometers from Battambang told CSC reporter that he never attended in a big ceremony like here (Battambang Parish). He continued, normally in my community have the procession in the Chapel and pray. For the future he will reflects together in his parish what going to do next year in the Assumption feast.
