Cambodia Royal Astrologer Predicts Abundant Crops

Phnom Penh (C.S.C): Cambodian’s royal sooth sayer predicted plentiful harvest and heavy rain for the country at an annual ceremony on Thursday, after two scared oxen ate from symbolic bowls of rice (90%), beans (95%), and corns (95%). Pair of royal oxen is also presented golden bowls containing corn, beans, grass, rice, sesame, water, and rice wine. Thousand of people gathered at the Veal Men Park in front of Phnom Penh’s national museum near royal palace to watch officials in the traditional costumes lead the bulls as they plowed in a circle.
In this special event, King Norodom Sihamony had presided over in the tradional ceremony. Prime Minister Hun Sen, President of National Assembly Prince Norodom Ranaridh, and senat President Chea Sim were not present. Notice that this ceremony has closely involved with the Buddhist and Hindu religions.
